Amar Sagar Lake, which is situated 7 kilometers from Jaisalmer’s western suburbs is an oasis cum lake. It is situated adjacent to the Amar Singh Palace. It was built in the 17th century by Maharawal Akhai Singh. Many ponds, wells, an old temple devoted to Shiva are included in this complex of the palace, along with the lake.

Many carved stone figures of animals surround the pool. Amar Sagar Lake history says that those carved figureheads were the protectors of the royal family. There are pavilions with steps that lead to the lake on one end stunning aesthetically carved Jain temples on the other end. You can also experience a beautiful sunset. The Amar Sagar Lake timings are from 9 am to 5 pm.

History


Amar Sagar Lake is one of the oldest water bodies in Jaisalmer city. It has been an oasis in this desert region for a long time. It was also the main reservoir of Jaisalmer, which supplied the whole city with water. The complex holding the lake also has the most beautiful example of Rajput architecture, the Palace of Amar Singh. It was erected by Maharawal Akhai Singh in the 17th century, as a tribute to his ancestors.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
