History
Amritsar City has a long history with the Ramayana, and the temple complex can be seen as a reservoir for Hindu scriptures. After being exiled from the kingdom by Rama, Sita worshipped the deity at the same location, and the shrine of Goddess Durga was built. Luv and Kush, their children, captured Rama's sacrificial horse, which was an important aspect of the Ashwamedha Yajna. When Hanuman stood up for the horse, Sita's twins kidnapped him and bound him to a banyan tree. The temple has been built around the tree for centuries. The tree remains green all year and is reputed to grant pilgrims' and travelers' wishes. Visitors beg for their wishes while offering vermillion and turmeric paste, as well as flowers.
Every day at Mandir Goswami Tulsi Das, a storehouse of handwritten Ramayana, the Ramayana is performed. Visitors can observe a group of devotees perform Rass Lila during Holi.
Architecture
The Durgiana Temple concept is based on the same architectural principles as the Golden Temple, which was constructed in the 16th century. Durgiana temple, like the Golden temple, is located amid the Sarovar and features a golden dome similar to medieval times. A marble bridge connects the temple to the outside world. Religious inscriptions adorn the gorgeous silver mandir door, and the intricately carved external walls are worth seeing. The Deori is also known as the Silver Temple because of the idols of Goddess Durga and Ganesha engraved on the temple's silver doors.
Marble statues of numerous deities, including Krishna-Veda Vyas and Goswami Tulsidas, adorn the Sarovar. Lord Shiva can be found in Dhyan (meditation) stands in the Sarovar, which is home to a variety of colorful fish. Near the Sarovar, there is a separate bathing Ghat for ladies, which uses water from the River Ravi.
