About Gau Ghat Pushkar


Pushkar City has about 25 different ghats, some of the most prominent ghats can be found in Pushkar city. These ghats, which were originally built by the Rajput households for paying their respects and offering to the local deities, are now places of tourism. Gau Ghat’s location falls in the town called Pushkar in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The aarti time at the Pushkar ghats, including the Gau Ghat, is significantly late in the summers, around 7:00 PM, whereas in the winters, it takes place around 5:30 PM.

Over the years that passed, Gau Ghat Pushkar came up as a significant worship spot, both in terms of its presence and importance among the people. Gau Ghat has some historical significance to its name as well. Ashes of India’s some of the greatest men, like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, and Lal Bahadur Shastri were immersed into the lake from Gau Ghat itself.

History


The ghats, which were originally built as places of sacred bathing and other rites by the Rajput royals, now hold national importance. The Gau Ghat, as it was originally called since the time of establishment, had its name changed to Gandhi Ghat after Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed into the lake from this ghat.

The ghat was originally built by the Rajput royalty but over the passage of years, it has been continually maintained by the royal families of the Rajputs and the Maratha kings.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
