History


The Kalinjar Fort was fabricated by the Chandelas. It served many ruling dynasties in the region, from Guptas to Solankis to the Chandela dynasty. Babur was the only commander who won over this fort. Sher Shah Suri died while trying to capture this magnificent fortress in 1545 CE. The Kalinjar Fort has also played a major role in serving as British Garrison during the Revolt of 1857.

The gallant edifice - Kalinjar Fort was established by the Chandelas. It is built on an 800 feet high hilltop. This fortress is renowned for its grand architecture by the Chandelas and its intricate sculptures. The fort houses many temples and has grand palaces and canopies, which are finely designed and carved. The fort embodies two entrances and an ancient Neelkanth Mahadev temple, situated in the heart of the fort which is a masterpiece of architecture. Stone-carvings of animals, birds, apsaras, and mithunas are also found here.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
