History
The Rai Ka Bagh Palace history holds importance in Jodhpur and is also known as the ‘Aath Pehlu’ which is a term for octagonal shape. Maharaja Jaswant Singh II was very fond of the palace as he occupied a vast area in it. It is a well-known fact that he was very fond of the place and he spent most of the time during his rule, in this palace. He was visited by a saint named 'Swamy Dayanand Saraswati Ji in the year 1883. The palace hosted him and the spiritual guru addressed his devotees from the palace grounds. This palace is the only one to house a royal for such a long period.
Architecture
The architecture of the palace is a wonder in itself. A huge number of laborers were appointed to work on the construction of the Rai Ka Bagh Palace. The structure we see today is the epitome of craftsmanship, unique marble works, and arts that were brought together and placed in this palace. It was built over a decade and the palace has some traditional Hindu art forms.
The octagonal shape of architecture was first introduced in the city by the Rathore ruler. The palace has four small domes on all four sides and the inside of the palace are built in a way that it receives ample sunlight and wind flow.
