History
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace history began between 1781 and 1791 during the reign of Tipu Sultan, the king of Mysore. Work of the palace began in 1781 under the direction and supervision of Hyder Ali, and it was finished in 1791. Tipu Sultan utilized this fort as both his summer home and his administrative headquarters when he was in Bangalore.
The palace and fort were conquered by the British after the death of the Mysorean ruler in 1799 during the fourth Anglo-Mysorean war, and the palace was used as a Secretariat before the British moved to Attara Kacheri. The Archaeological Survey of India took control of the historical site after India's independence.
Architecture
The Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan is a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace architecture is known for its massive wooden pillars with stone bases and is made entirely of wood, teak, stone, mortar, and plaster. The arches and brackets on the rectangular structure are emphasized. The ceilings have been altered and are adorned with lovely woodwork.
The external walls include depictions of wars, historical events, and famous rulers, while the interiors and walls have been tastefully done with exquisite paintings and floral designs. The 'Zenana' quarters, which refer to royal women's chambers, are built in the corners of the first level. Exquisite decorations and frescoes have been added to the apartments.
